Red Cross speaks to ABC Radio about bushfire recovery

Red Cross's Poppy Brown and disaster recovery consultant Dr Rob Gordon interviewed by the ABC about recovery and the psychological impact of bushfires

A year on from the peak of some of last summer’s bushfires, Australian Red Cross has been urging communities to be aware of the longer term psychological impacts from the disasters.

This comes after we disbursed another $17.5 million in grants to survivors of last summer’s fires, bringing the total disbursed or spent to $201m of the donated $240m.

These grants have been provided to more than 5,800 people.

ABC Radio Sydney’s James Valentine interviewed NSW/ACT Director Poppy Brown and psychologist Dr Rob Gordon, Australian Red Cross consultant in disaster recovery, about our recovery work and the psychological impact of the disasters.

You can listen to their helpful advice and information about our recovery efforts below.
