Our Privacy Collection Notice

Please read the following information carefully. 

Collection of your information 

Red Cross collects your personal information at the time you complete your registration, application or expression of interest application.. 

The information is collected for the primary purpose of helping us to match you to current volunteering opportunities at Red Cross. 

If we are asking you to provide sensitive information – eg health, race or ethnic origin, your membership of a professional or trade association – you consent to the collection of that sensitive information by providing those details to us. 

Our volunteer recruitment process includes a national police check. Some of our volunteer roles have additional requirements such as a working with children check or current driver’s license. 

We will tell you if we require more information from you, and that information must be provided to us if we are to progress your volunteer application. 

If we do not collect this information from you, including your actual name (as opposed to a nickname) we will be unable to consider your application for volunteer engagement.

Sensitive information 

As part of the recruitment process, we may collect sensitive information from you. This may include information about your race, health, membership of trade or business associations and other information relevant to your application that is included in the category of “sensitive information” under the Privacy Act 1988. By applying for a role with Red Cross you consent to us collecting that information for the primary purpose. 

Access and correction 

The information you submit helps us match you to current and future volunteering 
opportunities at Red Cross and is stored in electronic format on our database, or a database hosted by a third party on behalf of Red Cross, for the purpose of building a pool of potential volunteers. Your information will be stored in the cloud. 

You may access your account to update your details at any time ensuring the information Red Cross holds about you is complete, accurate and up to date. You may also request us to give you access to your personal information at any time, and, if you do not wish us to retain that information you may request us to delete your profile.
