First Aid baby CPR for an infant who is unresponsive and breathing

Advice for helping a baby aged under 1 year.

If a baby is not moving and does not respond when you call them or tap their foot, they are unresponsive.

1. Call 000 and follow the operators instructions.
2. Open airway by keeping their head in a neutral position, facing downward and remove any obstructions (such as food) if required

3. Look (for chest movement), listen (for sounds of breathing) and feel (for air movement) to check for normal breathing.

4. If there is normal breathing, hold the baby on their side to help maintain their airways.
