First Aid baby CPR for an infant who is unresponsive and breathing

Advice for helping a baby aged under 1 year.

If a baby is not moving and does not respond when you call them or tap their foot, they are unresponsive.

1. Check their breathing by tilting their head back and looking and feeling for breaths.

2. Hold the baby on their side with their head slightly tilted back, supported and lower than their bottom.
3. Call 000 as soon as possible.
4. While waiting for the ambulance, talk to the baby and reassure them.

Make sure their head remains tilted back.
