First Aid for someone with a tick bite

If ticks are removed promptly, most bites cause no medical problems apart from some swelling and redness at the bite site.
1. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible using fine-point tweezers.
2. Gently pull up and out. Avoid jerking or twisting the tick.
3. Flush the area with a saline solution or clean water.
