First Aid for someone with a spider bite

Learn First Aid for someone bitten by a spider.

General symptoms for spider bites include sharp pain at the bite site, profuse sweating, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

Tip: Don’t apply ice directly to unprotected skin. Wrap in a clean cloth, like a clean tea towel.

1. Bites from highly venomous spiders, like a Funnel-Web, should be treated in the same way as a snake bite.

2. Bites from other spiders should be treated with a cold compress and immediate medical attention for young children or if the pain is severe.
