Be a volunteer friend and visitor

Effort: Medium | Time: 1-3 hours per week

Red Cross volunteer sitting with an eldery person

Having friendships is important for physical and mental health, especially as we get older. Red Cross supports people to feel better and less lonely by matching volunteers with them for the purpose of conversation and activities. Your visits can have a large impact on the lives of the elderly: making them feel happier, healthier and more connected to their local community. It’s great for your own wellbeing too!

Check to see if any volunteer roles are available in the Community Visitors or Social Circles programs.
