Syria: Is there still hope?

After seven brutal years, it may seem easy to give up on Syria.

After all, the UN estimates that over 400,000 people have been killed and millions more have been displaced. In 2017 the world saw the biggest refugee crisis since the World War II due to the violence, and now over 13 million people are in need of aid.

But behind those numbers are stories of survival.

Even with many obstacles, deliveries of food and medicine still make it through to families trapped in besieged areas. Mobile medical clinics treat wounds and everyday illnesses. Donated tarpaulins and blankets allow parents to give their kids a warm place to sleep at night. Simple hygiene items help women and girls maintain their dignity.

Families have been able to restart their lives, through the provision of cash grants, livestock, seeds and job skills training. Men, women and children have received much-needed psychosocial support to help them survive trauma.
