Australian Red Cross launches support for communities impacted by Nepal flash floods

Australian Red Cross has ringfenced its Global Emergency Fund to provide support for communities impacted by the flash floods in Nepal. Between Thursday, 27 August to Wednesday, 30 September 2026, all donations to the fund will go directly towards supporting the Nepal flash flood response.

Australian Red Cross Interim CEO Penny Harrison said the impact of the flooding in Nepal has been devastating for many communities.

“Right now, Nepal Red Cross and the International Federation of the Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC) are on the ground, delivering critical relief and aid to those impacted by the flooding in Nepal. Nepal Red Cross personnel have been deployed and are engaged in coordination with national emergency response efforts, deploying rescue teams to support operations,” said Ms Harrison.

For Australian nationals in Nepal and their immediate family members seeking consular assistance, people should contact the Australian Government Consular services 24-hour line on 1300 555 135 within Australia or +61 2 6261 3305 internationally. Australian Red Cross remains committed to supporting our Movement partners working alongside communities in the region. Our Restoring Family Links service is also available to help people in Australia reconnect with loved ones affected by the crisis.

With the support of our generous donors, funds raised through the Australian Red Cross Global Emergency Fund which are ringfenced to support those impacted by the flooding in Nepal will help: 

• The Movements response work that enables volunteers and staff to provide critical aid to those who need it most. 
• Support affected people and communities to recover and to build resilience to disasters.
