Any NSW-based sporting body can apply for funding to run a sport-linked mental health program in a regional area in partnership with a mental health service provider or charity.
As a mental health service provider and charity, Australian Red Cross understands the important role mental wellbeing plays in sporting bodies and players. Red Cross has developed Mental Health Matters short courses which are delivered as workshops and webinars can be customised to suit your situation.
Australian Red Cross welcomes the opportunity to partner with your organisation to help submit the fund application and deliver the tailored Mental Health program.

The Mental Health Sports Fund provides NSW-based sporting bodies with funding for sport led mental health, social and emotional wellbeing initiatives in regional NSW.
The NSW Government has made $1.2 million available under this fund for programs in regional areas. This program is a partnership between the NSW Ministry of Health and the NSW Office of Sport.
The objectives of the Grant program are to:
There is a total of $1.2 million available for suitable projects.
Grants of $10,000–$75,000 are available depending on the size and scale of the program to be funded.
Special consideration can be made for larger applications (up to a maximum of $100,000), dependant on available funding and the nature of the program.

Projects should give consideration to activities that support the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community.
NSW-based sporting bodies can apply for funding to run a sport-linked mental health program in a regional area in partnership with a mental health service provider or charity.
Applications to support a new program or scale up an existing program are welcome.
Applications should demonstrate a focus on improving mental health or awareness of mental health and wellbeing in regional communities.

Knowing how to recognise the signs and symptoms of a mental health concern is an equally important part of health and safety as physical first aid training.
Sporting bodies are encouraged to understand the symptoms and to provide early intervention and a supportive culture to help reduce the impact of mental health concerns.
A healthy sense of self-esteem and wellbeing can help to minimise mental health concerns, as well as improve team cohesion.
With this in mind, Red Cross has developed Mental Health Matters short courses which are delivered as workshops or webinars and can be customised to suit your workplace situation.
