Including a gift in your Will to Red Cross, no matter how big or small, will help people in Australia and overseas continue to get the help they need during tough times. And at Red Cross, we believe in acting for humanity - and the power of people like you. People who want to pass on the values that they hold dear and make a difference for those who are facing tough times, and leave a lasting impact for future generations.

We recognise that your first priority when making a Will is to provide for your loved ones. Many people find that even after they've done this they can leave a gift in their Will to charity. Leaving just 1%, 2% or 5% of your estate to Red Cross means those closest to you receive more than 95% but the causes you care about benefit too.

Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support Red Cross. There are a number of different ways you can remember the Red Cross in your Will, depending on your circumstances.

You can leave share of your estate
A good way to help is to leave a proportion of what is left of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones. This type of gift (known as a residuary gift) is easy to add to an existing Will without interfering with specific sums you have left to family or friends. It also has the advantage that it will not be affected by inflation. Leaving just a small percentage of 1 - 5% of your estate means, those closest to you receive over 95% but the causes you care about benefit too.

You can leave a fixed sum of money
You may wish to leave us a fixed sum of money (known as a pecuniary gift). Please remember that this type of gift does not allow for changes in your circumstances or inflation.

You can leave a specific item
You may wish to leave us a particular item (known as a specific gift), which can be sold to support our work. It could be property or an item of value such as real estate, art or a piece of jewellery.

While there may be a specific need for funding in an area now, projects that need funding and support will change over time. Your gift is much more flexible and effective if it can be used wherever it is needed most around Australia and overseas at that time.

We realise that some people feel very strongly about leaving a gift to a specific Red Cross service. If you would like to discuss this further, we can ask a Gift in Wills team member to contact you.

You are under no obligation to share this information with us. However, we do find it helpful if you do tell us, as it gives us the opportunity to personally thank you for leaving such a special gift to Red Cross.

Any information you share with us is completely confidential.

Knowing about your generous gift also helps us plan for the future.
