Australian Red Cross Appoints New Board Chair and Deputy Board Chair

Today Australian Red Cross has announced the appointment of Ms Claire Rogers as the incoming Chair of its National Board.

Current Australian Red Cross Board Chair, Mr Charles Burkitt said Ms Rogers’ deep understanding of the humanitarian sector, combined with her extensive Board experience, makes her an outstanding choice to lead the Board.

“Ms Rogers is a respected board director who brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, governance frameworks, and risk management. Having previously served as CEO of one of Australia’s largest charities and guided several organisations through significant growth phases, I am confident that Claire is the right leader to guide the Board into its next phase.”

Ms Rogers said she was honoured to take on the role of Australian Red Cross Board Chair.

“It is an honour to lead a Board that supports such vital humanitarian work. Together we will continue to strengthen our impact and adapt to the challenges of tomorrow, to ensure Australian Red Cross continues to support communities in times of greatest need.”

The Board also confirmed the reappointment of Annette Ruhotas AM as Deputy Chair.

Annette is widely respected for her governance expertise, collaborative leadership, and dedication to advancing the Australian Red Cross humanitarian goals.

Both Ms Rogers and Ms Ruhotas will commence in their newly appointed Board positions at the conclusion of the organisation’s National Annual General Meeting on Friday, 5th December 2025.
