The much-anticipated Bindaring Clothing Sale is a once-a-year, entirely volunteer-run fundraising event in Perth, Western Australia. It supports Australian Red Cross by offering a wide range of donated clothing and accessories - from high-end designer labels to everyday wear - while promoting sustainable fashion. Beginning in 1963, over its six-decade history, the sale has raised significant funds for Australian Red Cross programs across the state.
Bindaring President Althea Mahon, said at Bindaring, they’re incredibly proud to be part of a community that values sustainability.
“Every year, we work tirelessly to make sure that the 8-10 tonnes of donations we receive don’t end up in landfill. Instead, we focus on reusing, recycling, and upcycling clothing and accessories,” said Althea.
More than 200 volunteers are expected on the day, from all walks of life including - university students, high schoolers, and community members. Althea proudly shares that her daughter, now 15, has been helping with the sale since she was just 7 years old.
"It’s a true community event, and the benefits last well beyond the sale, fostering lasting friendships," Althea adds.
People can support this inclusive event by donating clothes in the lead up, shopping on the day, or joining the team of dedicated volunteers.
