Let's make reconciliation real

Together we can build a rich national identity based on mutual respect, trust and understanding.

First Nations peoples still live with the trauma of colonisation, discrimination and racism. There is hurt and distrust and feelings of powerlessness. Not all Australians know and understand the impact of our shared history. Not all Australians value and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and achievements.

This has deeply affected relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people.

An Australia where humanity can thrive.

Where we listen to each other and learn about our shared history, including confronting and painful truths. Where we take pride in the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Where we create opportunities for all young people to succeed and be proud of their heritage.

We call on all Australians to do something personal to make reconciliation a reality.

What can we do?

Together we can heal the hurt, build trust and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Together we can listen, learn and celebrate our rich national identity and build stronger relationships.
