How to let us know when someone passes away

A death can be a difficult time, and there can be a lot to organise.

You can let us know by calling 1800 733 276 or informing us through the national Death Notification Service.

Australian Red Cross is part of the Australian Death Notification Service, a simple way to help people get in touch with multiple organisations, including government and non-government agencies, organisations and institutions, using a single online notification.

To use the service, you only need to provide the details of the person who has died that can be matched against a death certificate that has registered with Births, Deaths and Marriages and select which organisations to notify.

Red Cross pays our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander custodians of the country where we work, and to Elders, past, present and emerging.
