Land Rover donates Discovery 4WD to Australian Red Cross remote area work

Land Rover Australia has donated one of the first all-new Discovery vehicles to land in the country to Australian Red Cross.

A highlight of its 'Road Trip for a Reason' campaign, the partnership between Land Rover and Australian Red Cross saw Land Rover ambassador George Gregan visit the Northern Territory and share his passion for sport with remote communities.

"Distances in the Northern Territory are so vast and the addition of this Land Rover vehicle will make a huge difference over the next 12 months, helping our team to reach people in remote communities," Australian Red Cross Northern Territory Director Andrew Kenyon said.

In Alice Springs, Australian Red Cross offers children from difficult family situations an opportunity to participate in team sports, a simple connection to the community that has lifted school attendance and lead to a drop in anti-social activity in the town.

Australian Red Cross travels to communities like Tennant Creek, more than 500kms away, to work with women and families making their communities safer through locally-led grass roots programs.

In partnership with DriveSafe NT, Australian Red Cross helps young adults gain a driving licence, which in turn, aids their employability in central Australia and contributes to improved road safety.

Jaguar Land Rover Australia Managing Director Matthew Wiesner said the motoring brand's relationship with Australian Red Cross was more than 60 years old and it was proud to assist remote area work.

"We are proud to support Australian Red Cross and to donate a Land Rover Discovery to the Northern Territory operation for a year so it can continue the incredible work it does supporting remote communities," Mr Wiesner said.
