Being prepared helps people feel more confident and better able to cope during emergencies. Everyone deserves access to information that supports them to understand risks, plan ahead and make informed choices about their safety.
This video series provides emergency preparedness information in Auslan, supporting Deaf and hard of hearing people, as well as their families, carers and support networks, to prepare in ways that work for them. The videos are based on RediPlan, Australian Red Cross’ emergency preparedness resource, which helps individuals and households understand local hazards and take practical steps for emergencies such as bushfires, floods and storms.
Developed in partnership with Kara Technologies, and funded by the QBE Foundation, the videos were developed through a community co‑design process and tested with Auslan users to ensure the information is clear, accurate and culturally appropriate.
