Sudan is experiencing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian emergencies. Now in its third year, the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continues to devastate lives.
Essential services are collapsing. Food, water, medicines and fuel are critically scarce, while civilians continue to face targeted attacks, sexual violence, and the destruction of hospitals and critical infrastructure.
Sudanese Red Crescent Society – supported by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement - is working across all 18 states to provide urgent assistance. More than 12,000 volunteers are delivering first aid, evacuating the wounded, distributing food, and helping families search for missing loved ones.
Red Cross and Red Crescent teams are also supporting those fleeing into neighbouring countries with shelter, medical care, and emotional support.

Since 26 June 2025, severe monsoon floods have devastated communities across Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
Communities in both countries need urgent aid, including shelter, healthcare, food and clean water.
By donating to the Global Emergency Fund, you help Australian Red Cross respond where it’s needed most, whether in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or other crises around the world. Your support allows teams to:
Donate to the Global Emergency Fund today and help us act quickly to save lives in times of crisis.
Your donation is critical. Humanitarian responders often have just weeks to deliver shelter and essentials that help families stay safe and rebuild their lives.

Donations to the Global Emergency Fund mean Red Cross can be there for people in disasters, crises and conflicts overseas. It powers local emergency teams to provide life-saving assistance during disasters and conflict, and helps communities recover with dignity and prepare for future crises.
Your donations support life-changing work, and may include:
Our local emergency teams are experts in their field and based in communities. Many of them have lived through emergencies themselves. With your support, we can continue making sure that Australian Red Cross can show solidarity and provide additional support, helping people through the most challenging moments of their lives.
At least 80 per cent of money raised goes directly to the purposes of this fund. No more than 20 cents in every dollar is spent on support costs so we can run Australian Red Cross efficiently and effectively.
These support costs include investments associated with the overall operational capacity of Australian Red Cross, such as:
Yes, donations of gifts over $2 are tax deductible in Australia. If you receive a material benefit for your donation then it is not tax deductible: for example, if you receive points or another material benefit from your credit card provider.
You will receive a receipt in your name.
In the unlikely event that funds raised exceed the cost of our emergency services work, the excess will be used to support our everyday work with other people experiencing vulnerability and communities across the world who are in need.

We really appreciate the generosity, but we are not accepting in-kind donations for food, clothes, medical equipment or other items, as we’re unable to distribute those overseas. There are several good reasons for this. Every item has to be checked, cleaned, sorted, packed, transported, stored and distributed, which hugely increases the cost of the relief effort and diverts from work that may be needed on the ground.
Also, the items donated aren’t always what people need. But cash helps people make dignified choices that are right for them. Even worse, unwanted boxes of donated goods can clog ports and post offices and actually prevent the delivery of essential items like medicines and relief supplies.
Read more about what might happen when goods are donated after an emergency: Donating clothes or goods after an emergency.
If you have good-quality clothes or household items, our Red Cross Shops would gratefully accept them, to on-sell in Australia and raise funds for our vital work. Find out how you can donate.
