Right now, people across Australia are recovering from bushfires, floods and storms.
While the immediate emergency may pass, recovery can take months, sometimes years – and this is when support is needed most.
This summer alone, Australian Red Cross spent more than five times as many hours on the ground supporting communities compared to the same period last year – reflecting the growing need for support and the importance of ongoing funding.
Australian Red Cross is there before, during and after disasters, supporting people through every phase of recovery with practical and emotional support to help people rebuild their lives.
You are one of the helpers too. Your generosity can give people somewhere to turn on the most challenging days of their lives. And the fact is, we can’t do what we do without supporters like you.
Your tax-deductible donation today helps ensure no one has to face recovery alone.

“Australian Red Cross can make an incredible difference to communities because people recognise who we are and what we do. As soon as people see the red shirt, there’s a feeling of understanding that we are there to assist that community and individuals in whatever way we can. We can just walk right in and get on with the job.”
- Jessica, Australian Red Cross disaster recovery volunteer

“We hugged. We cried. We just looked at each other and thought, ‘how are we going to get through this?’ Then someone from Australian Red Cross walked over, introduced herself, and sat with us. She didn’t rush us. She didn’t tell us to be strong. She understood.”
- Lee, bushfire survivor, Victoria

“To all the precious souls who comprise Red Cross, I wholeheartedly extend my sincerest praise and deepest gratitude for the support you provide to those in genuine need. God bless you all. In the finest of ways, you personify your motto, ‘The Power of Humanity.’”

Yes, donations of gifts over $2 are tax deductible in Australia. If you receive a material benefit for your donation then it is not tax deductible: for example, if you receive points or another material benefit from your credit card provider.
You will receive a receipt in your name.
Your donation will help Australian Red Cross support people facing vulnerability in communities in Australia and across the world. Your gift will go to help wherever the needs are greatest. That could be:
Here are some of the great things supporters like you made possible in the 2024/2025 financial year:
If you donate a gift to an organisation classified as a ‘deductible gift recipient’ (like Australian Red Cross), you can claim a tax deduction on your tax return for that year for your donation. If you receive a material benefit for your donation then it is not tax deductible: for example, if you receive points or another material benefit from your credit card provider. Donating to a deductible gift recipient will likely reduce your overall taxable income, which in turn may reduce the amount of tax you are required to pay.
You must donate at least $2 and keep proof in the form of a receipt or bank statement. When you donate to Australian Red Cross, we’ll send you a tax receipt. The more you donate, the more you may claim back. Find out more
You will still get a receipt for tax purposes – and we’ll be hugely grateful to you. However, any donations received over the phone, online, or in the mail (post-marked) after midnight on 30 June 2026, can’t be claimed for tax purposes until the start of the following financial year.
Every day, people like you are helping to make a real difference in the lives of those who are vulnerable through our regular giving program.
Our regular givers support our work by automatically donating every four weeks, either by credit card or direct debit. Their ongoing support means we can be there for people facing crisis in Australia and beyond for years to come.
We would love to help you answer any questions. Please call 1800 733 276 or email contactus@redcross.org.au. For security reasons, don't include your credit card details in your email.
