‘SWL members, Caroline Furlong and Barbara Fletcher held the third Women in Red Golf Event in support of the Australian Red Cross at the beautiful Elanora Country Club on Sydney’s northern Beaches. Three years ago 60 women attended the inaugural event, this year more than 120 women participated. The day was a great success.
Though Sydney was enduring a spate of extremely wet weather the rain stopped enabling the keen group of golfers to compete for an array of wonderful prizes. The Day was generously sponsored by Blackmores, Baillie Lodges, the Merivale Group, Eleanora Country Club and the Oatley Family. The participants embraced the red and white dress code and joined together for a wonderful casual dinner after golf. The raffle and auctions were generously supported resulting in just over $40,000 being raised for the Australian Red Cross through the Society of Women Leaders circle of giving.
Caroline spoke about SWL and the work we do. Fellow member Anne Pike participated for the first time in a golf tournament and Row McGilvray was on hand to make sure all the activities were ran smoothly. It was a great day with a wonderful spirit of caring and kindness.
