“Pretty proud, most farmers…they might think they might be a failure if they have to ask for help, so they are reluctant to do that."

Robert is a sheep farmer who lives near Dubbo. “But there’s a lot more publicity now and people realise that it’s not a weakness to ask for help, and I’m glad it’s starting to change.”

The drought has been affecting his farm for the last 12 months, but he says he’s not as bad off as some. “I don’t think anyone around here is in a really desperate situation just yet. But there’s a lot of people further west that have trouble feeding their families.“ Robert’s family has been farming here since 1900.
