Rhonda - South Australia

Rhonda is a volunteer who provides support for at-risk 10 to 17-year-olds when they are being interviewed by police.

“This program operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and has 50 to 60 volunteers. … We do not provide legal advice, we are there to ensure the young person’s rights are respected and due processes are followed.

"I’ve had one boy who wanted to be a lawyer when he was older; I said ‘what are you doing here?’ He said he just didn’t think. You realise children are so vulnerable and can be rather impulsive."
