Gabriela - Mexico

“That day was desperation. The city collapsed." When a massive earthquake hit Central Mexico in September ...

...  Gabriela, a mother and emergency medical technician, rushed to help search for survivors in a collapsed primary school. “That day never ended. That one day turned into a week …. All that (Red Cross) training, I used every bit.”

She remembers how the parents of a kindergarten-age boy watched in horror as she worked to save his life. The boy survived.
