Elsin - Nigeria

Elsin has her sights set on a brighter future. “I want to become a doctor one day."

"I want to be able to help my community and my grandmother,” says the 17-year-old. But she fears returning home to her village in rural Nigeria – not only because armed opposition groups have attacked the area before but also because she knows it will stop her from getting a proper education.

Recently Elsin got a step closer to making her dreams a reality, with a Red Cross grant she has been able to pay her school fees and support her grandparents in growing their farm. Photo: IFRC/Corrie Butler
