Denise - Bangladesh

It’s the human moments that make all the difference.

Recently while working in a refugee camp medical clinic for people fleeing violence in Myanmar, our aid worker and nurse Denise met one of the loveliest and most affectionate families she’s ever come across.

“I was sitting on the edge of grandmother’s bed, and I feel these hands on my earlobes. Grandmother is playing with my earring, cooing, it was a bit odd but sweet.

Then she started playing with my hair and putting it up in a ponytail – it was hard for me to concentrate on what I was trying to do, but I had the biggest smile on the inside. It’s moments like these, even with the language barriers, you can really connect with people.”
