Benildo - Mozambique

"People are very traumatised, they have lost everything. I went out immediately to save people and I brought them home to safety."

“Only a few days earlier I had attended a Red Cross volunteer workshop on how to prepare for the cyclone. We had no idea of the incredible force in which Cyclone Idai hit, nor the horrendous floods that preceded the cyclone."

Red Cross has been providing emergency shelter, first aid, food, water, blankets, mosquito nets and psychosocial support to those affected by Cyclone Idai. "Being a volunteer runs in the family. My father was a volunteer and I have participated in Red Cross' work since I was a child.”
