Fun, fashion and fundraising at Perth’s huge Bindaring clothing sale

The Bindaring clothing sale has become legendary in Perth - find out what all the fuss is about.

Volunteers have sorted over eight tonnes of clothing for the annual Bindaring clothing sale held at Perth’s Claremont Showground on 19 May. Celebrating its 55th year, the Bindaring Sale has raised over $2 million to support vital Red Cross services with the help of hundreds of volunteers who collect, sort and sell donations of clothes and accessories. The one-day event draws a crowd of thousands.

In 2017 our vibrant group of volunteers ranged in age from 90 year old Betty to 7 year old Poppy who came with her mum to help after school. They were part of the team who helped raise an incredible $224,000 in a single day.

At 90 years old and seven years old, Betty and Poppy were the oldest and youngest volunteers for last year's sale.

The event’s success can be credited to the band of volunteers and supporters who create a carnival atmosphere for shoppers.

“People come back year after year because of the good quality clothing on sale and exceptionally low prices,” says Veronica Morrissey, President of the Bindaring Red Cross Unit.

“Whether you are looking for designer labels, something unique and vintage or to clothe your family very cheaply, the sale has a section for you.  Men women and children are all catered for.”

The Bindaring Clothing Sale is run by a dedicated team of Red Cross members.

The event is divided into three ‘shops’, catering for all kinds of shoppers.

The Op Shop is packed with good quality clothing for every member of the family, all at $15 an item or less.

The Boutique stocks new and nearly new designer labels for fashionistas on a budget.  Designer samples, unsold stock and top quality pre-loved clothing at prices to make you smile.

The Emporium is an Aladdin’s cave of vintage treasures, and an eclectic collection of beautiful jewellery and accessories.
