Red Cross welcomes the findings of the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission review.
We would like to thank the Australian public, businesses and the international community for their very generous donations.
Their support has already gone a long way in helping those affected by last summer’s bushfires to rebuild their lives and communities amid a global pandemic. This work is ongoing.
Throughout our bushfire response and recovery efforts, Red Cross has been transparent in the way these donations have been used to help those affected by last summer’s bushfires.
We’re pleased that our commitment to transparency and our ongoing dedication to those who still need help have been recognised by the ACNC.
Recovering from disasters and the trauma they cause takes a long time. It’s measured in years, not weeks or months. Red Cross is continuing to provide assistance to those who need it, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
So far, we’ve provided financial grants to more than 5,500 people and helped more than 12,600 others with support and information. We've disbursed or spent $177 million, with more distributed every day. Our people remain on the ground, helping people in 46 regions in four states by providing psychosocial support and assistance as their communities recover.
