Make an ongoing donation

Become a Humanitarian Champion

For just $1 a day, you can transform the lives of people living in poverty, conflict and isolation.

Every day, Red Cross volunteers and trained staff work with families and communities to bring care and support where it's needed most.

The people Red Cross supports come from all walks of life: Australians who are isolated and elderly; children going to school hungry; communities suffering in the wake of a disaster, or struggling to get by without clean water.

By signing up to make a monthly donation to charity, providing regular giving support, you will enable Red Cross to be there - bringing comfort, shelter and support for the long-term, throughout Australia and across our region.

About Humanitarian Champions donations

Humanitarian Champions help change lives every day, through an ongoing donation to Australian Red Cross either by credit card or direct debit. The continued support of Humanitarian Champions means Red Cross can be there for people facing crisis in Australia and beyond, for many years to come.

When you sign up as a Humanitarian Champion, we will make ongoing and automated deductions from your bank account or credit card every four weeks.

You can nominate the donation amount, and you can contact us to cease your future contributions at any time.

The easiest and most cost-effective way to sign up is online. You can also phone our Supporter Services Centre on 1800 811 700.

Yes. At the end of the financial year, we will send you a statement that details all of your transactions with Australian Red Cross for those 12 months. We send our donor receipts annually to save on our administration costs, however you can request a receipt at any time by contacting us on 1800 811 700.

No. As a Humanitarian Champion, your regular donations are not tied to any one specific program, the donations go wherever the need is greatest and supports overall Red Cross work.

Every day of the year, you could be helping families rebuild their lives after a natural disaster, ensuring elderly Australians receive a daily phone call to check they’re OK and helping bring clean water and health programs to communities across the Asia Pacific region.

Our Humanitarian Champions generate half of our fundraising revenue and is also our most cost-effective income source. Once a Humanitarian Champion signs up through our website, it costs us just 8 cents in the dollar to process their ongoing donations, send regular updates and run the program.

Your donations will be deducted on the date you nominate or the nearest business day.

We count on our Humanitarian Champions to be able to plan ahead and continue to provide support to help people in crisis every minute of every day – we are determined to be there for the long haul. When you pledge to donate regularly, you enable us to:

  • more effectively plan our upcoming work, knowing that we have the funds ready to invest in long-term solutions and make a lasting impact for those in need.
  • ensure Red Cross volunteers and trained staff are able to continue to be there – every day – bringing help where it's needed most in Australia and across our region.
  • respond to people in crisis wherever it is most urgently required at the time.

You might also find that a smaller monthly donation can be less of a burden on your budget than a larger one-off gift.

You can make your regular donation by credit card or direct debit. Please note that credit card is Australian Red Cross’ preferred method for payment. Unfortunately, we are unable to take ongoing donations via PayPal or Bpay.

On receipt, your recurring donation will be cancelled from the following payment. Please note, you have the option to pause your regular donation for a few months, for example if your financial situation has changed temporarily. To do this, please contact our Supporter Services Team on the number above and advise them of how long you’d like to put your monthly donations on hold.

Our Humanitarian Champions generate half of our fundraising revenue, making an important contribution to helping people face crisis in Australia and the region.  Once you sign up through our website around 92 cents in every dollar goes towards Red Cross’ vital everyday work.

We know a high proportion of Australians are paid on a fortnightly basis, so we changed our donation payment schedule to reflect this - giving those who’ve recently signed up to regular giving the option of making a donation every 4 weeks.

This gives our supporters more choice, so you can align your regular donation with your salary pay cycle, and choose when donations happen.

Previously our regular givers were only able to make a donation on three days of every month: the 1st, 17th and 20th

No. Existing regular givers who donate on a monthly basis have not been affected by any changes and their payment plans will remain the same unless they have specifically asked for a change themselves.

If you have any more questions on regular giving or would like to talk to a member of our team about your monthly donation to charity, please call 1800 811 700 or email us. For security reasons, please do not include your credit card details in an email.
