Australian Red Cross is proud to be an approved NSW Government AED Service Provider. We would be delighted to help your Club with your grant application for an approved AED (Automated External Defibrillator) package – we’ll make it simple and easy for you to apply and we offer expert training and ongoing support.

What’s an AED?

An automatic external defibrillator (AED) is a device that analyses the heart rhythm of an unconscious person and delivers an electrical shock in an attempt to restore a normal rhythm. Don’t worry, an AED won't deliver a shock unless necessary. The AED can be delivered to a person by anyone, not only first aiders.

Why do we need a defibrillator?

More than 30,000 Australians suffer from sudden cardiac arrest every year, of which only 5% survive. Immediate access to a defibrillator can lead to a 70% survival rate if applied quickly. An AED should be applied to an unconscious person as soon as possible – for every minute the shock is delayed, there can be a 10% reduction in survival.

What AED packages are available?

Red Cross is pleased to offer packages from leading AED providers – simply choose the package that best suits your needs.
