You can complete a fully accredited first aid course anywhere you have access to the internet with live virtual training offered by Red Cross. 

We'll send you a training pack with all the items you'll need to complete your chosen course, like a manikin to practice CPR on and trainer defibrillator pads, inhalers and bandages. We'll also give you access to eLearning modules that you can complete in your own time, at your own pace (Note: an additional $10 fee applies if a PO Box address is used).

To complete the course, a fully qualified Red Cross trainer will take you through a live virtual training and assessment session at a pre-booked time. Once you've passed your assessment we'll email a nationally recognised statement of attainment to you.

How it works

Book

Book your course online. Choose a time for your virtual training that works for you. We'll send you a confirmation email with a link to eLearning modules, and a training pack in the post.

Prepare

Complete your eLearning modules before your virtual training date. The modules will take around two and a half hours to complete.

Live virtual training

Attend your virtual session on Zoom. You'll need a working webcam and microphone. A Red Cross trainer will take you through live instruction and assess your practical skills using the equipment in your training pack.

Certificate of attainment

Once you've passed your assessment we'll email you a nationally recognised statement of attainment.



HLTAID011 Provide first aid

Develop your basic first aid skills to learn how to respond in any emergency.

You'll learn how to manage a first aid emergency until help arrives - managing causalities, the incident and other first aiders. You'll also learn how to provide basic life support and CPR, and how to respond to common first aid injuries and illnesses.

This course is ideal for anyone who might be required to provide a first aid response - at home, at work or in the community.

On successful completion of this course, you'll be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following Units of Competency: HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

This course follows a blended learning format where students will complete online theoretical learning before attending a virtual session with a trainer to be assessed against the unit of competency requirements.

About the online courses

The eLearning modules will take approximately two and a half hours to complete (up to four hours) and can be done over multiple sessions. The virtual training session lasts for three hours and fifteen minutes.

We'll post the training pack to you. It's yours to keep so you can continue to practice what you've learnt after the course.

You'll receive an inflatable manikin, trainer defibrillator pads, a placebo inhaler, an inhaler spacer, an EpiPen Trainer and triangular and cotton crepe bandages.

Your knowledge will be assessed at the end of your eLearning module. During your live training you can interact with the trainer, ask questions and demonstrate the practical requirements for the course. You'll need to satisfactorily complete both portions to be deemed competent and receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment.

Yes, you must complete the eLearning prior to your virtual training and assessment session.

The eLearning modules are compatible with all devices, but we do recommend a using a desktop computer or laptop for the best experience. During your virtual live training, you'll need to be able to demonstrate practical skills to the Red Cross trainer, so you need a device with a microphone and a camera that can capture you in full.

Yes, this course incudes CPR training.
