CPR First Aid Course

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation | RTOID 3605

This CPR first aid course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest. Content is based on Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

Please note it is a requirement of this course that the practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

Course duration

4 hours of CPR training in the classroom or 1 hour practical in the classroom with prior online learning.

Course content

  • Legal and other requirements
  • Basic life support
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) steps
  • Demonstration and use of a defibrillator (AED)
  • Debriefing/Welfare


There are no prerequisites for this first aid course.

You can choose to complete the theory component of this course through our online learning portal. Once completed, students must attend a one-day practical assessment session to complete the full qualification for CPR certification.

The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed annually.


Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies and a written quiz.

On successful completion, you will be issued with the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
