First Aid Refresher Course & Recertification

HLTAID003 Provide first aid - Practical Assessment / Refresher | RTOID 3605

This first aid refresher course is applicable for those wanting to recertify Apply first aid or Provide first aid and also people who have completed the Provide first aid Blended online theory course. 

If you are recertifying, this course will update the skills and knowledge gained (within the previous 3 years) and revise First Aid procedures.  It will also inform you of changes since your previous course. If you have completed course theory online, this one day course will provide you with the practical training necessary to complete the Provide first aid course and receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Please note it is a requirement of this refresher course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

  • Allergic reaction 
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding and wound care
  • Burns and scalds
  • Cardiac conditions
  • Choking and airway obstruction
  • Crush injuries
  • Diabetes
  • Drowning
  • Envenomation
  • Extremes of heat and cold
  • Eye and ear injuries
  • Head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Musculoskeletal injuries: fractures and dislocations, strains and sprains
  • Poisoning and toxic substances
  • Respiratory distress, including asthma
  • Seizures/Convulsions
  • Shock management
  • Stroke
  • Unconsciousness


To book into this first aid refresher course, you must have successfully completed and hold a current Statement of Attainment for Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) or Apply first aid (HLTFA311A).

Students must present their Statement of Attainment either prior to, or on the day of the recertification course.

The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed every 3 years, with the CPR component to be refreshed annually.


Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies and a written quiz.

Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.


On successful completion of this refresher course, students will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
