Prerequisites
To book into this course, students must have successfully completed and hold a current Statement of Attainment for the following units:
- Apply advanced first aid (HLTFA412A)
- Manage first aid in the workplace (HLTFA403C);
- Apply advanced resuscitation techniques (HLTFA404C)
or
- Provide advanced first aid (HLTAID006)
- Provide advanced resuscitation (HLTAID007)
- Manage first aid services and resources (HLTAID008)
Students must present their Statement of Attainment/s for the 3 units either prior to, or on the day of the course. Students are also required to complete a pre-course workbook and bring it with them to the course. This will form part of the assessment.

Recertification
The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed every 3 years, with the CPR component to be refreshed annually.
Assessment
Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies, written practical tasks and a written quiz.
Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
Outcome
On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units:

- Provide advanced resuscitation (HLTAID007)
- Manage first aid services and resources (HLTAID008)
