Anaphylaxis Training

22300VIC - Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis | RTOID 3605

This anaphylaxis management course is based on the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) Action Plans and advice, and will give you the skills to:

  • recognise, treat and manage a severe life threatening allergic reaction
  • correctly use adrenaline auto-injectors
  • develop risk minimisation plans, anaphylaxis policies and communication plans

4 hours - face to face

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course content

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the triggers, signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
  • Develop risk management and risk minimisation strategies for anaphylaxis. This includes the development and implementation of pre-emergency risk assessment/ management and the development of individual anaphylaxis management plans.
  • Provide an emergency first aid response to an individual experiencing anaphylaxis, until the arrival of medical assistance. This includes standard first aid procedures and the specific skills and knowledge to administer adrenaline using an adrenaline autoinjector.

Re-certification

The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed annually.

Assessment

Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies, and with a written test.

Outcome

On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for 22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis.
