About your donation to Red Cross
Your donation will help Australian Red Cross support the most vulnerable people in our local communities in Australia and across the Asia Pacific. Your gift will go to help wherever the needs are greatest. That could be:
- companionship for older people who are isolated and alone
- emotional and practical support to someone affected by a disaster
- emergency financial aid for a family who fled conflict overseas and is starting over
- and so much more.
Every year, in Australia, we help someone every 90 seconds. Here are some of the great things supporters like you made possible last financial year:
- support for more than 324,000 people during and after disasters in Australia
- regular phone calls or visits to more than 3,500 older isolated people
- much-needed support for more than 19,700 people from 125 countries who had been made vulnerable by migration and are now living in Australia
- 66 Australian international aid workers were deployed to help in 33 countries.
If you donate to an organisation classified as a 'deductible gift recipient' (like Australian Red Cross), you can claim a tax deduction on your tax return for that year for your donation. Donating to a deductible gift recipient will likely reduce your overall taxable income, which in turn may reduce the amount of tax you are required to pay.
