We all lead busy lives, and we understand not everyone has the time to organise a fundraising event. It only takes a few seconds to donate online to Red Cross Calling!

Pauline Gill was taken by surprise when a bushfire swept over her property in Sampson Flat, South Australia, forcing her and her husband to evacuate. A year later, Pauline spoke to us about the long-term emotional toll, and how Red Cross stood by her as she recovered.

"Before I thought bushfires only happen to other people," she said. "Your mental state is something people take for granted until you have to deal with a disaster."

Red Cross partners with communities before, during and after emergencies, helping people to build their resilience. By equipping people with the tools to prepare for disasters well before they happen, we're supporting neighbours to look out for one another and recover more quickly.

  • $60 provides kitchenware for families who have lost their household goods in a disaster.

  • $150 can help recruit, train and retain an emergency services volunteer to help in evacuation centres, do door to door checks, help out in community events after a disaster.

  • $200 will help meet immediate needs such as clothing, food and somewhere to stay the night for an Australian family who has lost everything in a house fire
