Help Our Aussie Farmers

Donate to help drought-affected farming communities and families.

This week drought was declared across all of New South Wales – that’s along with more than half of Queensland.

Every passing week without deep, watering rains becomes another week of despair.

You can help during this tough time. Donate now and help farmers and their families get back on their feet.

Aussie Farmers Need Our Help

Funds raised through the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Appeal will be used to enable short-term financial relief arising from drought affecting rural communities.

This may include supporting individual and household health and well-being by making financial support available to meet everyday household expenses as well as helping people access social, health and educational activities.

The funds will be distributed to drought-affected communities working with partner agencies who support and have identified at-risk individuals and families in the affected areas.

Please help our Aussie farmers and farming communities.

100% of donations go to help farmers, their families and communities, none of our costs will be funded from the appeal.

Funds raised by the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Appeal will be used to alleviate financial pressures and support the health and well-being of severely drought-affected farmers, farming families and farming communities. Financial support will be made available to meet everyday household expenses, as well as enabling access to social, health and educational activities.

We are currently finalising local partners around the country to reduce red tape and maintain the dignity of people who are likely to find asking for help difficult.

All partners will be made public in line with requirements of reporting, accountability and transparency. Our appeal will give us the means to tell our local partners we can help meet the needs of drought-affected people who have come to them for help.

100% of every dollar donated will help farming families and communities. No Red Cross resources will be funded from the appeal.

Red Cross understands people may have a strong desire to donate items. While this generosity is appreciated, our experience has shown that affected communities recover sooner when they can make their own choices. This includes choosing and purchasing goods rather than being given goods.

Another benefit of allowing those affected to choose their own purchases is that money is being put back into the community to stimulate local businesses, an important part of the local economic recovery.

Red Cross is unable to accept offers of goods such as food and clothing; however, we appreciate and accept donations of clothing through our Red Cross Shops network to support the broader everyday work of Red Cross. To find out what the needs are across Australia, contact your local Red Cross Shop.
