On behalf of Australian Red Cross, the Queensland IHL Advisory Committee is pleased to invite you to its next event – an international humanitarian law (IHL) training day in Brisbane.
The day will start with an overview of the key rules and principles of IHL, followed by a panel discussion regarding IHL and war crimes will Dr Eve Massingham, Dr Rebecca Ananian-Welsh and Barrister Sarah Spottiswood. This will be followed by an interactive simulation where participants will be able to put IHL into practice representing civil society, the military or government actors. Morning tea will be provided.
We encourage anyone with an interest in humanitarianism, IHL, foreign diplomacy, international relations or the military to come along. A detailed knowledge of IHL is not essential. With that in mind, we have included a link to a free online course which takes you through a general overview of IHL which we recommend attendees do before coming along to the training day.
