Over the past 18 months, demand for Red Cross support has increased as our country – and the world – has faced uncertainty and crisis.
Your generosity can give people – mums and dads, grandparents and young people – who have nowhere else to turn a support network to lean on.
At Christmas time, more than ever, we need to take care of each other. Give the gift of a brighter future today.
For two years, Red Cross volunteer Allie has been visiting Val, who lives alone in an aged care home. In between visits and outings, the pair chat on the phone almost every day – catching up on their favourite reality TV shows and sharing stories. Every day, Red Cross teams across Australia visit and phone people struggling with loneliness and social isolation, helping them build friendships and a community of their own.
From our headquarters on the remote Tiwi Islands we run programs the community ask for, like a parent and baby support group. You don’t need to be a parent to know raising children has plenty of challenges, there’s no inbuilt guide. So, our group is a safe place to share practical advice mixed with activities, like arts and crafts, dancing and singing.
