In 2014 we were honoured to announce our new Patron, His Excellency the Governor General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove.
His first official role as Patron was to launch our Centenary book, The Power of Humanity: 100 years of Red Cross in Australia. As part of Australia's social history, the Governor General emphasised the unique role Red Cross has played in serving the nation for a century, at a special event graciously hosted along with Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove at Government House, Canberra.
To celebrate National Meals on Wheels Day in 2016 the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove visited some of our clients in Canberra and brightened their day.
The Governor-General also kindly assists us in celebrating World Red Cross Day each year, which marks the birthday of the founder of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, Henri Dunant, and is celebrated by national societies all around the world.
