Youth and Education Services  
Young people are an important part of Red Cross, making a difference in local, national and global communities. Around 10,000 young Australians are learning to identify problems facing vulnerable groups and creating solutions within their own communities.  
save-a-mate  

save-a-mate is a drug education program. It aims to reduce the harm associated with alcohol and other drug use through education workshops and health promotion activities. Youth volunteers take the health messages of safer partying and harm reduction to young people at a range of festivals and events. World Aware  
World Aware is a nine week leadership program for refugee and migrant youth. It ends with a major youth event celebrating the achievements of the World Aware program and participants. Speaker Network - exploring humanitarian issues  
Through interactive presentations, find out how children and families separated by conflict or disaster are reunited, if wars have laws, how to prepare for a natural disaster and what Red Cross does. Visit our Speaker Network page.  
Y Challenge  
The Y Challenge program supports teams of young people between 6 and 17 years of age to work with members of the community to make positive social change. The program is free and provides a range of resources to support young people and their mentors. See the Y Challenge page for more information.   
Community Challenge in WA  
Community Challenge promotes active citizenship by encouraging young people to participate in an activity that will contribute to making their community a better place. Participants learn more about their local area and its needs, whilst gaining valuable skills and experience in project development and problem solving. An extensive manual accompanies the program and provides a clear framework on how to develop, implement and evaluate a community-based project.

Red Connections is a pilot project to assist young people identify and address issues associated with discrimination and racism.

International Youth Project - China 2008/9  
Red Cross is working with local people in the Chinese region of Guangxi to lessen the impact of natural disasters by developing disaster preparedness plans. Support the China Disaster Preparedness Project, become part of the Red Cross international community, and find out more about Red Cross in other parts of the world. Red Cross Cadets in WA  

Red Cross Cadets is a Youth Development program that encourages community responsibility and service. There’s lots to do as a cadet… abseiling off a cliff, rafting down rapids and surviving out in the bush. You’ll also learn invaluable first aid skills like bandaging up a broken arm, treating snake bites and learning how to save someone’s life using CPR. You might even get a chance to meet some of your sporting heroes at the soccer, football or the cricket by going to the game as a first aider! You’ll get a great looking uniform for free, take on a whole heap of new challenges, learn leadership skills, teamwork and responsibility.  All it takes is a commitment of one day a week and sometimes your weekends.

Club Red  

Club Red is a youth specific, free information service for people in high school through to 25 years of age. It is for young people who want to be involved in the world’s largest humanitarian organisation and be kept informed of what is happening locally and globally. Being a part of Club Red puts you in a network of young people committed to humanitarian action throughout the world. This may be through volunteering, leadership development and action, education, or involvement in international humanitarian issues.
