As Vanuatu rebuilds from the devastation of Cyclone Pam, Red Cross is seeking skilled volunteers for assignments that will support community recovery in areas such as first aid, blood services, small business and medical procurement.
Current opportunities include:
Business Development Adviser (Port Vila)
Help Vanuatu Red Cross to strengthen its commercial first aid program, which is a vital service for the community and provides funds for humanitarian work.
Clinical Management Adviser - Training & Liaison (Espiritu Santo)
Work to improve the quality of medical training and health services in Nothern Vanuatu by strengthening management practices at a clinic in Luganville.
Community Engagement Officer, Blood Donations (Port Vila)
Support staff at Vila Central Hospital to develop and implement community engagement activities aimed at increasing voluntary blood donations.
Community Health Educator & Trainer (Port Vila)
Train health workers in rural and remote villages in Vanuatu to develop their community health promotion skills.
Business Development Adviser (Luganville, Santo)
Use your business training, proposal writing and marketing skills to help local artists in Vanuatu, particularly women and youth, to develop sustainable small business enterprises.
Medical Procurement Adviser (Port Vila)
Help Vila Central Hospital to establish a supply chain management system that will ensure hospitals and health centres across Vanuatu have the medical supplies they need.
Technical & Training Officer, Blood Services (Luganville, Santo)
Support staff at a hospital in Vanuatu's Northern Province to review and strengthen blood collection, analysis and storage processes and systems.
Tourism Risk Assessment Officer (Port Vila)
Help develop a risk management plan for Vanuatu's tourism industry and materials that will enable local tourism operators to assess and manage risk.
Water Safety Officer (Port Vila)
Help Vanuatu Red Cross increase community awareness about water safety through its first aid programs.

Am I eligible?
Assignments are only open to Australian citizens or permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens with a Special Conditions Visa. Applicants will need to demonstrate the skills and experience required of each role.
When can I start?
These assignments will commence in September 2015 and require a commitment of 11 months.
These assignments through the Australian Volunteers for Development (AVID) program are part of our long-term commitment to helping the most disadvantaged people in Vanuatu to achieve healthier, safer and more sustainable lives.
We work with our partners to improve the quality of health services, particularly the safety of Vanuatu's blood supply; strengthen disaster preparedness and recovery; and support humanitarian organisations to deliver strong community programs.
