There has been a buzz in the air as Red Cross volunteers and staff have worked together to build the HumanitarianVillage. Signs are up, exhibits unpacked and the sound check is done ... we are ready to showcase the humanitarian work of the Movement.

The Village is the hub of the Statutory Meetings. It's a place for delegates, volunteers, members, staff and the public to connect. From Monday 11 to Monday 18 November it will showcase over 40 exhibits from around the world including China, Russia and Kiribati. There will be cultural performances ranging from Egyptian and Indonesian dance to Persian singing and traditional songs from Aboriginal women of the Tiwi Islands. Daily panel discussions will cover topics from climate change to migration. Amongst the vibrant displays are photographic exhibitions focusing on Syria, the Pacific, Hiroshima and Nagasaki and 150 years of humanitarian action.

The Village is a place not only to learn about the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, but to celebrate the humanitarian work of people worldwide. If you are in Sydney during the week, we'd love for you to come celebrate with us. If not, you can follow the action on facebook, twitter or instagram: #RCRC2013.
