Position Context: The Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) is an operating division of the Australian Red Cross Society (ARCS). ARCBS is responsible for blood collection and distribution and provides specialised services including organ donation.
The mission of LIFEGift, the Victorian Organ Donation Service, is to help people who are awaiting transplantation by coordinating the organ and tissue donation process and raising community awareness of the importance of donation.
LIFEGift operates in Victoria and Tasmania and was established by the Victorian State Government in 2000.
Principal Responsibilities of the role: LIFEGift volunteers help educate the community about the issues surrounding organ and tissue donation and help raise awareness of the importance of family discussion.
Specific requirements: * You will be community minded and interested in organ and tissue donation * You will have confidence to deliver professional presentations to community groups * You will feel comfortable initiating your own contact with community groups to organise presentations * You will be prepared to help, where possible, with other activities ie displays, mail-outs etc
