POSITION TITLE: Emergency Services Redi Support Team Member
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Services

POSITION REPORTS TO: Redi Support Team Leader
POSITION CONTEXT:
In accordance with the Victorian Emergency Management Arrangements, Australian Red Cross Victoria has a number of responsibilities for supporting people where emergencies occur. These include emergency catering, emergency first aid, personal support, single incident emergency assistance and the National Registration and Inquiry System. This multi-skilled role is carried out in accordance with Australian Red Cross Victoria emergency service responsibilities and relates to the handling of inquiries and registration of evacuees; providing personal support to emergency affected people; providing emergency catering to emergency services personnel and emergency affected people and providing support in the Emergency Operations Centre during emergencies.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Co-ordination
* Work cooperatively with the Team Leader and other team members at all times, ensuring information is shared.
* Maintain regular contact with the Team Leader
* To stay within the defined confidentiality boundaries
Recruitment, Orientation and Training
* Participate in orientation and team training as required.
* Attend emergency exercises as required.
During activations
* Be available whenever possible in the event of an emergency.
* Match registrations and inquiries and advise the inquirer of the whereabouts of the person they are seeking.
* Take inquiries and enter details onto the National Registration and Inquiry System registration form.
* Provide information to affected people as required.
* Provide basic personal support to affected people as required
* Provide assistance to emergency services staff as required.
* Ensure safe hygiene practices are followed at all times when providing emergency catering.
* Perform duties in a safe manner, considering the safety of others.
* Actively contribute towards the development of the team.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Personal Qualities and Skills Required:
* Ability to work cooperatively with others.
* Reliability, flexibility and adaptability.
* Availability to be on call in times of emergency.
* Able to work in stressful situations during an emergency.
* Organisational skills.
* Ability to work to the standard operating procedures of Red Cross Emergency Services.
* Sensitivity to people's reactions to trauma and stress.
* Commitment to Red Cross principles.
Hours of work: Maximum 8 hours per shift - 1 shift per day limit.
Maximum 5 days during an activation with a break of 48 hours.
