Program and position summary

Save-a-mate (SAM) is a program designed to reduce incidences of harm and fatalities associated with alcohol and other drug use in young people through relevant first aid and peer education. The Red Cross SAM Alcohol and Other Drugs Emergencies (AODE) Course is an interactive, educational program that teaches young people how to recognise, prevent and respond to emergencies that may occur as a result of alcohol and other drug use. The focus of the SAM AODE Course is to equip participants to provide potentially life saving support to their mates, families and others where official first aid providers are not present.
