Red Cross Community Challenge
A challenge is put out to students to come up with a project that benefits their local community. Students work in partnership with a local agency to define, plan, implement, and evaluate the project. Support is available from Australian Red Cross in the form of a presentation and brainstorming sessions. Also available is a Community Challenge resource which helps groups when taking up the challenge. At project’s end, students receive a certificate of participation. In 2005 over 500 students took up the challenge and hosted a Christmas party for local aged care facility residents, painted a mural at the local YMCA and ran a blood drive at their school - to name but a few projects.
