Patient Transport
The Australian Red Cross Transport Service was one of the first Red Cross services in Victoria, and was provided to ensure that soldiers returning from the First World War could make it back to their homes.

Today, the Patient Transport service exists so that people who are isolated and have limited transport options, can attend essential medical appointments. It is run from 22 locations throughout Victoria, and in a typical year, our fleet of 40 vehicles covers 1.3 million kms (24 times around the earth!), transporting over 20,000 vulnerable Victorians to urgent medical appointments (an average of 400 a week).

The service is about more than just about providing transport. Patient Transport drivers are a friendly face and a helping hand. Many of the people using our service are anxious and lacking in confidence because of age or illness, Patient Transport
volunteers do their best to make our clients feel safe and at ease. A health professional or social worker referral is required.
