The Mission of our Archives is to ensure that items and records that document the history of the Australian Red Cross in Victoria are retained, kept securely and made accessible for research.
Australian Red Cross heritage collections will be of interest for a range of purposes. Some examples include branches and members for historical reference, historians for academic research, genealogists and others for personal research.
Items and material available for research include:
* Australian Red Cross publications - including Annual Reports
* Newsclippings - books of newsclippings from 1915 to 1996
* Photographs - covering all aspects of Australian Red Cross activities
* Uniforms - some available on loan for displays and special events
* Quilts
* Artefacts - such as medals, buttons, badges, plaques, banners etc
* Documents - such as reports and letters
Two 'travelling' exhibitions (on easily transported panels) are available for loan:
* Being There - highlighting the activities in different eras
* Red Cross Remembers WW2

We are interested in acquiring new items relating to Australian Red Cross Victorian Division activities or people that we do not already hold.

You are welcome to visit our Archive. It is advisable to make an appointment first. The Archive is staffed by a part-time professional archivist and several volunteers and is usually open on Mondays and Thursdays.
